I want you to know that your curiosity and desire to explore more about God has not gone unnoticed, nor will it be a fruitless effort. If you feel like you haven’t ‘got there’ yet or that you’re not completely convinced, that’s okay. In due time, I expect you will find a personal revelation of what this means to you, one that speaks louder than anything someone else could tell you.

You will see that this full life, both mysterious and plain to see, has been waiting for you all along. You will see that somewhere among the answered questions and unanswered ones lies a conviction that This Thing is the real deal. And This Thing is able to transform you from the inside out, if you let it.

***

I wonder if you ever worry.

I wonder if you’re ever afraid that if you look below the surface, dip your toe a little deeper in then you might get lost. I wonder if you worry about how much you think you may have to give up, or how those around you might respond. I wonder if you think about whether you’ve got what it takes. Whether you’re good enough and whether your not-so-spotless past can really be exchanged for this seemingly perfect and unattainable ideal.

I wonder these things for you because I used to wonder these things for myself too. The truth is that none of these things limit you because Jesus meets you right where you are - with all your baggage in tow. Your curiosity, your doubt and your flaws are all welcome and there is plenty of room. He says;

“Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace [approval, acceptance, support]. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

And right here is where life starts.

From the inside out, He straightens the twisted areas of your life. He brings the clarity, confidence and competence to really live well. I sense that your passion for this real life is woven into every inch of you, but it lies dormant. Saying yes awakens that passion. It doesn’t make you into someone you’re not, it simply uncovers who you really are.

The best thing is that you don’t have to do it on your own, you aren’t out here fending for yourself. Instead, you’ve got people rooting for you. Sometimes you just need a little help seeing it, which is why I’m writing to you. To remind you that your exploration is not in vain neither is it reserved for when you ‘sort yourself out' sometime in the future. It’s a real-time collaboration with Jesus, a journey that you can begin right now, as a work in progress. A journey where you're encouraged to figure it out as you go along.

You're doing so well.

It might not feel like it but you are, and you've made so much progress. So continue to show up, continue to be open and continue to receive the good stuff that is forever on offer.
